As a young boy growing up near the Blue Ridge Mountains, Floyd Bender had dreams of making the world a better place. His dreams took him to Cumberland, MD, where he started a youth ministry, and later became the pastor of a small city mission church called Friendship Haven-:- The church, being a mission, did not provide an income for raising his family of seven children. Along with his wife, Martha, he began ta pray that God would provide an opportunity far business which would also complement the ministry. It wasn’t long until they heard about ServiceMaster far the first time and began ta explore the company in depth. Discovering that the ServiceMaster name literally meant “Service to the Master”, the Benders were motivated to buy their first franchise in 1988, ServiceMaster of Allegany County, which offered disaster restoration services. Market expansion occurred in 2004, with the addition of a janitorial service franchise in the Morgantown, WV, area, ServiceMaster Cleaning Specialists. Further expansion came for ServiceMaster of Allegany County in 2016 when janitorial service was added to the company’s portfolio. In 2017, disaster restoration services became available through the Morgantown franchise. In addition to working, primarily in the Morgantown area, Floyd serves as the pastor of Grace Brethren Church in Cumberland, and enjoys pursuing various mission opportunities locally as well as internationally. He contributes his success in business and ministry first and foremost to God, as well as to the support of his wife, family, and staff.
